New Haven High School Costume Contest -- You decide who wins $25 iTunes Gift Card

Every year on Halloween at New Haven High School FCCLA sponsors a costume contest.  Students use their imaginations and creativity to see who can come up with the best costume.

We want to have our own little costume contest and let you decide who had the best costume.

The one with the most votes will win a $25 iTunes gift card.  Anyone can vote, no user name or login is needed.

Everyone will have two days to cast their vote and choose who they think had the best costume.

Domestic assault ends up in female accidentally shooting male in foot

Unioin, Mo. -- This morning at approximately 2:00 AM, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by Mercy Hospital in Washington in reference to a subject with a gunshot wound.  Deputies responded to Mercy.  The victim told deputies that he was cleaning a handgun when it discharged and struck him in the foot.

Car crashes after spotted traveling 84 mph by deputy -- driver hides in wooded area

Union Mo. -- Last night at approximately 6:00 p.m., a Franklin County Deputy was traveling north on Hwy A, leaving the city limits of Union when he met a speeding vehicle traveling south.  The deputy clocked the passing vehicle at 84 miles per hour; before he was able to turn his patrol car around the vehicle was out of sight.

Registration for GED classes at ECC begins this week

East Central College will begin registering students this week for those interested in taking classes to earn their GED.  The college offers day and night classes at six different locations.

Schenck, Pataky, and Grater will run in next Saturday's State Meet

Harvest time is here!  Pack up the kids and head to the nearest pumpkin patch for family fun adventures filled with hayrides, corn mazes, and pick-your-own pumpkins and gourds.  Not only are they great for carving and adding that special touch to your holiday decorating, pumpkins are great for eating too!

New Brief:  Cross Country -- This morning the Rocks ran in the Class 1 district meet at Vienna, Mo.  Schenck, Pataky, and Grater finished in the top 15, qualifying for the state meet next Saturday.

The Annual Holiday Bazaar, sponsored by the New Haven Preservation Society, was held today from 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

This event was at the Old New Haven School, 810 Maupin Avenue, New Haven, Mo.  and featured many artisans.

Corps of Engineers faces tough question from Missouri landowners, government officials

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – As the Missouri River continues to recede after this year’s catastrophic floods, citizens all along the river basin have been flocking to public forums hosted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to voice their concerns about what the future holds.

Over 5000 dollars raised for Mike Baynes

Three weeks ago on Sat., Oct 15 Thrivent Financial, Kurt and Mark Koch, along with family and friends hosted a benefit BBQ to help raise money for Mike Baynes.  Baynes has been undergoing treatments after he was diagnosed with melanoma.

Good Luck Cross Country at Districts

The Cross Country Team will be running in their district meet tomorrow at Vienna, Mo.  The Varsity boys will run at 11 a.m.

We want to wish the team the best of luck, BRING HOME A DISTRICT TITLE!
