NEW HAVEN: Obituary: Robert W. "Bob" Hughes (February 21, 1925 - November 6, 2011)

Robert W. "Bob" Hughes, 86, of New Haven, Missouri, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Missouri Veteran's Home, St. James, Missouri.

Mr. Hughes was born in Middletown, Missouri on February 21, 1925, the son of the late Thomas J. and Grace (Butler) Hughes.

He was the husband of Leona (Diederich) Hughes. They were married on August 4, 1950 at Warrensburg, Missouri. She survives in New Haven.

Operation A.R.R.E.S.T. (Alcohol Related Response Enforcement Strike Team) will take place in Franklin County, beginning at 7 p.m. on Sat., No. 12, 2011.  The operation will end at 3 a.m. on Sun., Nov. 13, 2011.

UPDATE3: Train demolishes car -- Driver of vehicle identified and could face felony child endangerment charges

Mon., Nov. 7 2011 - According to the MSHP, the driver of the vehicle has been identified as Monica Sauder, age 31 of Leslie, Mo.

We spoke with Chief John Sheible this afternoon about what Sauder would be charged with.  Sheible said that his officers had issued tickets the night of the incident.  However, because Sauder’s actions met the criteria for felony child endangerment charges, New Haven Police would have to drop their initial charges.

Transcontinental Project: Stroller Tracker Update 3 - 500 miles left

Nov 6 – In the last update from Jeff Perez’s journey across America, he had ran 1,623 miles in 52 days. Tonight on day 79, in Heber-Overgaard, Az Perez is 2,794 miles from where his journey began, still pushing the famous stroller and a little over 500 miles away from completing what he had set out to do.

Duke Downs Lander, 79-52, in Final Exhibition Game

DURHAM, N.C. – Sophomores Chelsea Gray and Chloe Wells scored 18 points each while freshman Elizabeth Williams added 17 in a 79-52 victory over Lander Sunday in Duke’s final exhibition game of the 2011-12 season.

Duke controlled the pace of the game from the opening tip, jumping out to a 20-9 lead in the first eight minutes of play. The Blue Devils also applied strong defensive pressure in the early going, forcing six turnovers while notching six steals and four blocks.
