Preseason outlook on Lady Shamrock Softball

Softball practice began last week for the Lady Shamrocks coming off of a 12-8 record last year, winning the New Haven Classic, and finishing fourth in the Four Rivers Conference.  This was the team’s second season in a row with a winning record after finishing 13-9 in 2009.

Trinity Lutheran Sunday school class travels to aid in Joplin relief efforts

Last week adult and youth members of Trinity Lutheran Church's Sunday school classes traveled to Joplin, Mo to help with clean-up from the May 22 tornado.

Three arrested after several burglaries in St. Clair area

On August 2, 2011, a resident in the 400 block of Perkins Road outside of St. Clair, Mo., reported a burglary had occurred at their home when they noticed the garage door was detached.

School board meets with architects about long-range facility plan - Tax levy hearing August, 25

At Thursday’s New Haven School Board meeting, five architects presented how they would develop a long-range facility plan for the district looking ahead 10 to 20 years from now.

Open house tonight at New Haven Elementary

The New Haven School District will be holding an Open House at the elementary school from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Mon., Aug 15.

Parents and students are encouraged to attend, visit their teacher, see where their classroom is, and meet other members of the school faculty.

– A federal appeals court sided with Missouri and 26 other states Friday, when it declared the individual mandate provision contained within the federal health care reform law to be unconstitutional.

East Central College bookstore has extended hours - Classes begin on Wednesday

The textbooks are on the shelves of the East Central College Bookstore, and a wide variety of backpacks, supplies, and Falcon attire are also available.  Students paying with check, cash or credit card, or who are charging books and/or supplies to their financial aid, are encouraged to visit the Bookstore before the start of the semester next Wednesday, August 17.

NEW HAVEN Obituary: Kenneth M. Obermann (June 10, 1941 - August 11, 2011)

Kenneth M. Obermann, 70, of New Haven, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Grandview Healthcare Center in Washington, Missouri.

Mr. Obermann was born in New Haven, Missouri on June 10, 1941.  He was the son of the late Albert and Emma (Pelster) Obermann.

Obermann was a member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church, Port Hudson, Missouri and worked in maintenance for Langenburg Hat Factory.

Bio-diesel backers bullish on increased gas mileage targets

-- The bio-diesel industry is excited about the new gas mileage targets announced by the Obama administration. Joe Jobe, the president of the National Bio-diesel Board headquartered in Jefferson City, says new diesel powered cars are getting 40 miles per gallon and above, and diesel engines continue to improve in efficiency.

is a 1997 graduate of New Haven High School.  Today he flys the F/A –18 and is aboard the USS George H W Bush CVN 77 somewhere in the North Arabian Gulf.  He is currently deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Pirate Suppression Operations.
