New Haven Elementary School observes Walk to School Day set for October 5th

On Wed., Oct. 5, 2011 students at New Haven Elementary School will join other students across the country as they pull on their sneakers and join together in Walk to School Day. This special day is designed to encourage a more walkable America – one community at a time. 

More than just a pin

Every year, along with several other traditions for the balloon race, is a uniquely designed balloon pin with the year on it.  The 2009 balloon was more unique than any other pin prior to or since then.

In tonight’s action at the Hermann Volleyball Invitational, New Haven lost to Pacific in three sets, (13-25) (30-28) (17-25).

The loss put them in the third place game against Washington losing in straight sets, (17-25) (14-25).

Lawmakers tackle unaccredited school exodus

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. --With several thousand more Missouri public school students about to join the ranks of those attending unaccredited districts, a legislative committee hopes to make sure those students get the best education possible without overwhelming nearby accredited school districts with a sudden surge in enrollment.

Lonedell man drowns this afternoon at Lonedell Lakes

Early this afternoon St. Clair Fire, Water Patrol Officers and Franklin County Sheriff’s Department responded around 1:19 p.m. to Lonedell Lakes for a report of a missing person.  Lonedell Lakes is located approximately 18 miles southeast of St. Clair and about one mile from highway 47 at the Franklin County line.

New Bleachers -- Johnny Appleseed -- is going on at New Haven Elementary

We thought we would drop in at the elementary school yesterday and see if anything exciting was going on and did we get lucky.

In memory of Dusty Englert (Oct. 19, 1982 - Sept. 26, 1999)

Dusty Englert tragically died in a car accident 12 years ago.
His big sister wrote this poem for him below.

Dusty Angel

To look around this place I wonder,Wonder what it’s like
to see the world from up high,
Higher than a kite.

I roam around this small apartment,
worrying about the dust,
Washing clothes, doing dishes, showers area must

Intoxicated male attempts to take 2-year-old daughter -- Mother airlifted after being run over by vehicle


On Sat., Sept 24, around midnight, Franklin County Deputies and the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to a residence near the Gray Summit Post Office.  When they arrived there were several subjects visiting the residence.

Witnesses reported a male subject at the residence that had become intoxicated. According to reports, the subject wanted to leave with his 2-year-old daughter, however the mother refused to let him take her or have access to the 2-year-old
