Extra Extra read all about it

Today Leader Publishing is printing the New Haven Youth Fair Limited Edition paper.  The last time a paper was printed locally my dad was four-years-old. 

Today marks the end of 46 years of news printed in other cities.  New Haven once again has a locally owned, operated, and now a locally printed news paper limited edition.

UPDATE: New Haven Berger/Fire on scene Henniges Automotive fire alarm sounding

The New Haven/Berger Fire Deparment responded at approx. 7:55 a.m. for a fire alarm sounding.  Crews are currently on the scene assessing the situation.  As information is reported we will keep you updated.  Click here for pictures

An Electrifying Tug-of-War Friday night at 2011 Youth Fair

The tug of war has become one of the main events at the New Haven Community Youth Fair on Friday night.  An estimated 800 to 900 people came out to watch the tug-of-war.  Teams with matching uniforms, face pant, and t-shirts were all a part of the intense competition.  There were team names such as Life Savers, Piggy Pullers, Stony Hill Mafia, and Kloppe Dairy Pulling Team.  Teams even had their own coaches.

Hannah Pruessner’s steer was chosen as the New Haven Fair Grand Champion and Andi Placht’s steer was selected as the Reserve Champion.

Huge turnout for 3 on 3 tournament - Pictures from ealier this afternoon

The 3 on 3 basketball tournament started at 10 a.m.

130 total registrations with 96 of them runners turnout for 5th Annual 5k walk/run

Nearly 120 participants took part in this morning's 5th Annual 5k Run/Walk.  Runners ranged from 8 year-old kids to 75 year-olds that ran the entire 3.1 mile course.

Kate Menke crowned 2011 New Haven Youth Fair Queen

Kate Menke (pictured aboved) was crowned 2011 New Haven Youth Fair Queen as well as selected by here peers to be Miss Congeniality.  The second runner up was Taylor Goad and first runner up went to Hannah Seitter.

Menke received a 1,000 dollar scholarship along with Mary Kay products, jewelery and a gift certificate for a facial.  She also received a 200 dollar scholarship for being selected Miss Congeniality.

49th Annual Steam Engine and Threshing Show in Rosebud, MO

This weekend marks the 49th Annual Steam Engine and Threshing Show, produced by the Owensville Threshers Association, and hosted by the Rosebud, Missouri Community Park.  The cool, Friday evening proved to be an excellent time to spend at the festival, which continues through Sunday. 

This evening’s highlights included Grain Threshing, Barrel Racing, Lumber Sawing Demonstrations, Draft Horse Pull, and a Farm Tractor Pull.

Queen contestants showed off their talents this afternoon

New Haven Youth Fair Queen contestants showed off their unique talents this afternoon. 

There was a wide variety of talents from Abby Menke playing the piano, Shay Jasper demonstrating cake decorating, Julie Scheer, Taylor Willimann, and Megan Bauer each giving a personal narrative about loved ones they had lost, to Taylor Goad doing sign language to the song “Fireflies”.

Missouri State Trooper suffers minor injuries in attempt to arrest subject after police pursuit

On Thursday, July 14, 2011, at approximately 1:30 a.m., a member of the Missouri State Highway Patrol stopped a Pontiac Grand Prix near the intersection of Sherman and Missouri 94 in St. Charles, Missouri.  As the trooper approached the vehicle, the driver stated he had outstanding warrants for his arrest.  The trooper reached into the vehicle in an attempt to arrest the driver.  The driver then drove from the scene, dragging the trooper several feet before the trooper fell to the pavement.

2011 New Haven Community Youth Fair begins tonight - Queen Contest at 7

The New Haven Youth Fair begins tonight with the Queen Contest at 7 p.m.  The talent show will begin this afternoon at 3:30 p.m. in the basement of the St. Peter’s United Church of Christ.  The public is welcomed to attend.
