How one person celebrated her 70th birthday in unusual fashion - Includes video of 70-year-old's ride on the ECO ZipLine

This past Sunday, Janice Cutright celebrated her 70th birthday.  Most people who turn 70 may have a little get-together with family and friends, eat cake, and talk about how it feels to be 70.

Cutright on the other hand, had a completely different way of thinking.  To give you an idea of how energetic, full of life, and maybe just a little crazy (in a very good way), Cutright wrote this poem in the invitation she sent out.

Week long basketball camp came to an end today

Today was the last day of basketball camp, which began Monday of this week.  Coach Ray Steinhoff's goal for his younger group was, "simply have fun."

Missouri State Highway Patrol to aggressively enforce all traffic violations this 4th of July weekend

Missouri State Highway Patrol will be conducting two projects throughout the Fourth of July holiday weekend, in an effort to promote safety and to reduce the number of crashes in the Troop C area. Operation C.A.R.E. (Combined Accident Reduction Effort) will be conducted on Interstates 270, 70, 64, 55, 44, and U.S. Highway 40/61. This effort will run the entire holiday counting period which starts this evening and will continue until 11:59 p.m. on Monday, July 4, 2011.

What it takes to be the next state champion

Today was the finial day of the boy’s basketball camp.  All week Coach Ray Steinhoff has put emphasis on, “what it takes to be the next state champion”.  Hard work, perseverance, team sport, skill, and confidence are a few things listed on the back of each shirt players were given as a reminder of what can be achieved if you give 110% day in and day out.

Little league baseball "Boys of Summer"

Tomorrow night marks the end of summer baseball and softball.  There are games at both Lions and Bock in the city park. 

If you haven’t made it out to watch, tomorrow is your last chance.

Shamrock players sharpen their skills during summer camp

Summer basketball camp is being held at New Haven High School this week.  Coach Ray Steinhoff hosts the camp every year to help players develop their skills as well has have fun.  Steinhoff does two sessions, one for high school kids in the morning and grade school kids in the afternoon.

EDITORIAL: iPhones are great and life is too fast

Four years ago today in 2007 the first iPhone went on sale in the United States.

It's hard to believe how much has changed the way we live our lives since the iPhone was invented.  Even if you don't have an iPhone you can probably still look back and see how different your life was compared to now.

Summer School Theater - The Frick-chen Troupe (from New Haven, MO)

Yesterday morning at New Haven Elementary, 4th and 5th grade students performed two plays; Sunday Siete and Gingerbread Girl. Students have been working very hard for today’s performance all summer long.  To see photo gallery click here.

June 28: Missouri River crest of 26 feet expected

The National Weather Service is predicting a Missouri River crest of 26 feet in Hermann on July 2. 

Motorcycle accident at Maupin St and Arizona St, driver transported to St. Johns

At 9:21 p.m., New Haven EMS and Police responded for a motorcycle accident in the area of Maupin Street and Arizona Street  According to Capitain Dan Terry, the throttle got stuck on the bike and the driver was forced to lay it down.  Marks from the bike are visible on the pavement.

Wrap up of summer school field trips

Representative Schatz declares March 30 Coach Ray Steinhoff Day

To most people, March 30th, 2011 is simply another day. To New Haven High School and Shamrock fans alike, March 30th is now and forever will be Coach Ray Steinhoff Day.
