We had promised to bring you a live broadcast of last night’s New Haven/St. James game. Unfortunately, during setup I inadvertently selected the wrong broadcasting channel keeping the first half from being heard on-line.

I am sorry that we did not broadcast as promised but I have put a process in place to ensure this does not happen again.

Lawmakers reconsider charter schools

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Proponents of charter schools are back with legislation that would allow them to spread beyond the borders of the Kansas City and St. Louis school districts.

Rep. Tishaura Jones, D-St. Louis, is sponsoring a bill that would allow for expansion of charter schools while simultaneously enhancing accountability measures for such schools.

New Haven High School Student of the month - Austin Madden

The student of the month for December is Junior Austin Madden.  Austin is the son of James and Tina Madden.

Along with Austin’s outstanding academic achievements, he was recognized for his role as a leader in his class.  Serving as class vice-president, he has taken an active role in committee work and decision making that has impacted the class in a positive way.

NEW HAVEN: Obituary: Timothy Ray Bonnarens (Dec. 21, 1966 - Jan. 24, 2012)

Timothy Ray Bonnarens, 45, of New Haven, Mo., passed away on Tues., Jan. 24, 2012 at New Haven Care Center.

Mr. Bonnarens was born in Washington, Mo. on Dec. 21, 1966, the son of Robert A. and Selma (Scheible) Bonnarens of New Haven, Mo.

He was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, New Haven, Missouri and a former member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way.

Mr. Bonnarens worked for Powells as a painter and then worked for Union Pacific for five years as a machine operator.

Rehearsals begin Monday for Three Performing Groups at ECC

Union, Mo. - East Central College encourages adults and children who are musically inclined to join one of the performing groups for the spring semester. Rehearsals begin Monday, January 30, for three ensembles.

Children in grades 4 through 8 are welcome to participate in the East Central Children’s Chorale which holds rehearsals on Mondays from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Children’s Chorale is directed by Malinda Thompson and Sheila Baer.

La Russa to manage 2012 NL All-Start Team

(Missouri Sports Magazine) – Tony La Russa, the longtime manager of the St. Louis Cardinals who retired following his Club’s 2011 World Series Championship, will serve as the manager of the National League All-Star Team for the 2012 Midsummer Classic at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Commissioner Allan H. (Bud) Selig announced today.

Freshmen boys also won this evening, defeating Fatima in Owensville's Freshmen Tournament.  The freshmen will play Pacific tomorrow night at 6:15.
