Deputies respond to report of a fatal gunshot

Early Wed. morning around 9:58 a.m. Franklin County Deputies responded for a report that someone had been shot.  Deputies responded to 23 Longbranch Lane, located off of Highway YY, approximately six miles south of Washington, Mo.

Bear awareness extra important in springtime

JEFFERSON CITY–Resource Scientist Jeff Beringer has a piece of advice for Missouri outdoors people and landowners: Be bear aware.

Beringer is the bear specialist for the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC). When someone sees a bear somewhere in the Show-Me State, they call him. His phone rings more often each spring, and this year is no exception.

Part of Turner education bill ruled unconstitutional

Jefferson City, Mo - Kansas City and St. Louis school district children will not be able to transfer free of charge to suburban schools any time soon. On Tuesday a state appeals court judge ruled by say, the state law that allows students in failing school districts to attend other better achieving schools is unconstitutional.
