Sobriety checkpoints this weekend September 14-16

Franklin County, Mo. - Deputies of the Franklin County Sheriff's Office will be conducting sobriety checkpoints over the weekend of September 14-16, 2012 in an effort to make the roadways of Franklin County more safe for motorists.

New Haven Police crack down on drivers

New Haven, Mo. – The New Haven Police Department took part in the 2012 “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” DWI Enforcement Campaign.
The enforcement campaign began August 17 through September 3.

Unhampered by the near constant weekend rain, New Haven Officers issued 12 citations for speeding and one for an unlicensed driver.

OBITUARY: St. Clair: Angel Lee Sullentrup (October 22, 1975 - September 9, 2012)

Angel Lee Sullentrup, 36, of St. Clair, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2012.

Mrs. Sullentrup was born in St. Louis, Missouri on October 22, 1975, the daughter of Linn and Deborah (Wheeler) Thompson of Leslie, Missouri..

She was a homemaker and a student. She formerly worked at New Haven Care Center, Casey's in New Haven, Metalcraft of New Haven and Chris Kaye Plastics in Union.

JV volleyball team off to a 5-0 start

New Haven's teamwork and unselfish play has led them off to a 5-0 and start.

New Haven, Mo. – The JV volleyball team has been pounding the opposition leading them off to a 5-0 start, taking each match in two sets.  In their last three games (Belle, Montgomery County, & Chamois) they have out scored opponents 150 to 46.

Luetkemeyer: Little hope any actions will take place on Farm Bill until after elections

--Congress returns to Washington this week for a quick, pre-election, and one of the first issues expected to come up in the U.S. House of Representatives is the 2013 farm bill.

Despite a bipartisan push for the legislation and calls for passage by many agriculture stakeholders suffering from the summer’s drought, it appears the legislation is simply stuck in ever-present Washington gridlock.
