Team coverage of Sunday's historical day

Sunday will be a historical day; not just for New Haven’s Basketball program, but also for the entire New Haven community.

The Shamrocks will be only the second high school program to be inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame.

New Haven won the third place game at The Hermann Tournament tonight, defeating Chamois in overtime 33-30.

This past Thursday, New Haven’s sixth grade class took a trip snow skiing.  No, they did not fly out to Colorado, instead they enjoyed a daylong field trip at Hidden Valley Ski Resort.

Hermann, Mo. – The Lady Shamrocks walked away with the win, holding off the Lady Warriors in this evening's consolation game 41-35.
Rachel Steinhoff had a team high 16 points with Emily Kallmeyer and Kayla Oetterer both scoring eight points, improving to 9-8 on the year.

Senator Rupp seeks to end ban on public funding for religious schools

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – A member of the Missouri legislature wants to end the state’s constitutional ban on providing public funds to religious organizations.

Calling it an injustice toward churches and other faith-based organizations, Sen. Scott Rupp, R-St. Charles, introduced legislation this month that would repeal a portion of the “Blaine Amendment” from the state constitution.

Lawmakers reconsider charter schools

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Proponents of charter schools are back with legislation that would allow them to spread beyond the borders of the Kansas City and St. Louis school districts.

Rep. Tishaura Jones, D-St. Louis, is sponsoring a bill that would allow for expansion of charter schools while simultaneously enhancing accountability measures for such schools.
