Great ball of fire burn baby burn

New Haven, Mo. – During the past few Fire Fests in New Haven, people have been amazed by the “Burning House of Ice”. This year the Riverfront Art District wanted to end Fire Fest with an even bigger bang.

We ended Monday morning’s article, “Great Balls of Fire”, by briefly mentioning the conclusion of Fire Fest 2012.

Looking out for voters - Know before you go what you are voting on

Tuesday will be the biggest election since the hanging chads of 2000 when Republican candidate George W. Bush defeated the Democratic candidate Al Gore.  Franklin County Debbie Door is predicting a 70 to 73 percent turnout in Franklin County.

There are several items on this year’s ballot that could be over shadowed by the highly published race for the White House.

Schenck receives HOBY leadership award

New Haven, Mo. New Haven High School Counselor Doug Peirick announced on Monday that Beth Schenck, daughter Mike and Amy Schenck of New Haven, has been awarded the 2012 Hugh O'Brian Youth Foundation (HOBY) Leadership Award for New Haven High School.

– Saturday in downtown New Haven, the Riverfront Arts District held the 5th Annual Fire Fest.

Fire Fest was Missouri Life Magazine’s featured event for November and December.  The event was also featured on the Fox 2 Morning Show with Tim Ezell and was the center of attention this weekend.

Schenck runs to All-State finish

Jefferson City, Mo. – The Missouri State Cross Country Meet is the most difficult course any runner will face.  The state meet is known for eating runners’ alive, causing heartache and disappointment for hundreds of athletes each year.  Seth Schenck knows that feeling after finishing 29th last year.

Prior to Halloween, Natalie Witte and Jessica Zeiss, seniors at Gasconade County R-I School, and members of the FCCLA went to Hermann Area District Hospital to dress us up the hospital for Halloween.

BREAKING NEWS: Heavy fire destroys home on Dierking Road

Beaufort, Mo. – Saturday night, around 10:15 p.m., fire stormed through a modular home, completely destroying it.  Beaufort/Leslie Fire Department responded to the first alarm, located on Dierking Road near the intersection of Dierking and East Casco Road, north of Beaufort, Mo.

Drumroll please... Fire Fest 2012 is off to a great start!

Today's Fire Fest in downtown New Haven is off and running!  There are vendors and food galore, so be sure to stop by!  There will be great excitement in the after dark events!

Cuddly Critters Donated to Hermann Area District Hospital

Hermann, Mo - Modern Woodmen of America Youth Club 2304-1L from Morrison, Missouri donated 15 Cuddly Critters to Hermann Area District Hospital for the pediatric patients. 

One shot - first buck

New Haven, Mo. – “I asked my dad why my leg would not stop shaking.”  This is what 10-year-old Tyler Gleeson said to his dad after shooting his first buck Saturday morning.

Tyler said, “I wasn’t shaking when I pulled the trigger but I was afterwards.”  One shot is all it took for Tyler to knock down the 8-point buck.

The end of Daylight Saving Time for the year

At 2 a.m. on Nov. 4, Daylight Saving Time will end for 2012.  Don't forget to "fall back" one hour! 

This is also the time of year that reminders go out to change the batteries in your smoke detectors in your home.

Area firefighters deploy to East Coast with Missouri Task Force 1

Missouri Task Force 1 completed their mission Saturday in Long Beach, Long Island, NY. They are en route to Fort Dix, NJ for the night and will be flown by Chinook Helicopter to New York City to continue with search and rescue missions along with humanitarian efforts.

All members are doing well and glad to be working.

Boone County, Mo. – Missouri has one of 28 federally funded Task Forces across the country.

Haupt recognized for 25 years of service

Tuesday, the New Haven Care Center recognized Beth Haupt for 25 years of service.  Haupt has been working at the Care Center longer than any other employee as the Care Center was established just 29 years ago.

New Haven's JV defends Conference Title - Bright future for shamrock volleyball

--New Haven’s Junior Varsity Volleyball team’s resolve and determination led them to an overall season record of 22-3-1, propelled them to a first place finish in the Pacific Tournament and Four Rivers Conference Champions for the second straight year.

Good teams win games, but great teams win games separated by just a few points.  New Haven did what great teams do; find a way to win.
