Changes in Energy Tax Credits May Be a Surprise

Brad Fischer, COLUMBIA, Mo. – Since 2005, Americans have benefitted from income tax credits promoting energy efficiency.

However, a University of Missouri tax expert says those credits have changed recently, which could lead to a surprise for some filers.

City of New Haven plans first test of a new phone emergency notification system

The City of New Haven plans to run its first test of a new phone emergency notification system on March 13. The test is scheduled to coincide with the statewide tornado drill, set for 1:30 p.m. that afternoon.

The City system will call all phone numbers in the City’s utility billing database. The system is similar to those used by local school districts to inform parents of school closings.

Political Cartoons of the Civil War Topic of February 23 Presentation at ECC

Local historian Bob Schultz will discuss the political commentary of the American Civil War through newspaper cartoons when he visits East Central College Thursday, February 23.

The free presentation will begin at 6 p.m. in Room 100 in the Health & Science Building on the ECC campus in Union.  Schultz will explore just a few of the biting, satirical and sometimes friendly political cartoons that came to prominence during the Civil War.

Facebook message is not TRUE - No such events have occurred

Apparently there is a post by an unknown individual on Facebook about a blue minivan traveling around the area, stopping at homes and asking to clean their carpets.  The Facebook post goes on to state these individuals are “beating people up”. This is not true according to officials.

UPDATE: Missing 14-year-old girl found at Milwaukee Hospital

Mon. Feb., 13 - According to authorities Brittany Jones was found late Sunday at a Milwaukee hospital after a S.A.R.A.A alert had been issued when her non-custodial father allegedly took her from Cardinal Glennon Hospital yesterday afternoon.

Police say the teen underwent a kidney transplant at Cardinal Glennon in 2010, and has recently been having some complications. They learned about the missing patient from hospital staff just after 2:00 p.m. yesterday.

Some students are continuing to receive fake campus emails from the deadfake website.  However, it does not appear the staff or student email systems were hacked or breached.
