The Missouri State Highway Patrol urges everyone to be safety-minded on Halloween. Halloween can be fun for everyone.

MOTORISTS: Motorists are reminded to pay attention for trick-or-treaters of all ages. Young children excited by Halloween could dart in front of a vehicle. Slow down, and drive with extra caution. If you are headed to a costume party, make sure the costume doesn’t hamper your vision while you’re driving to the event! Motorists picking up and dropping off trick-or-treaters may increase the number of vehicles on the road,

Mercy to Reschedule Cancer Support and Awareness Fair

Washington, Mo. – The Cancer Support and Awareness Fair scheduled for Thursday, October 20, at St. Francis Borgia Parish has been postponed. The event will be rescheduled.

“Mercy knows its communities love baseball and especially the St. Louis Cardinals,” said Terri L. McLain, president of Mercy Hospital Washington. “This turn of events in local baseball has brought much excitement to our area. We will reschedule the Cancer Support and Awareness Fair after the World Series, so everyone can take this time to cheer on the home team.”

New Haven School District will say thank you to our veterans November 11

The New Haven School District is proud to honor those that have served our nation in the armed forces.

On Friday, November 11, 2011 at 7am a breakfast will be served in the New Haven High School Cafeteria in honor of Veterans Day.  The school will be serving breakfast from 7am-8am for veterans and a guest.  Following the breakfast the New Haven Elementary School will host a Veterans Day Assembly.  The assembly will begin at 8:30 am and will include a guest speaker, a presentation by the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, and music by the Elementary School Choir.  

Steve Jobs, a man who revolutionized the way we communicate today has died.

National news services are reporting that Steven P. Jobs, co-founder of Apple Computers, has died.  He was 56.

Jobs was battling cancer when he resigned the helm of Apple in August.  At the time of his death, his Apple Computing fortune is put at $8.3 billion.

Jobs was married, with 4 children.

MO Routes 94 and 19 in Montgomery County to be resurfaced next week

HANNIBAL - Weather permitting, beginning Monday, October 3, MoDOT and its contractor, Magruder Paving will begin resurfacing almost 17 miles of roadway in Montgomery County next week.

The resurfacing projects include MO 94 from McKittrick west to Route P near Rhineland. After completing MO 94, crews will begin working on MO 19 from the Missouri River near Hermann north to Route J near Big Spring.
