QUICK THOUGHT: Two pieces of junk built into one powerful generator and the misperception of city employees

New Haven, Mo. – New Haven’s Public Work’s employees do much more than the overall perception most people have.  Recently a new generator was installed at Well #4 located on Douglas Street.  Aside from improving the city’s infrastructure in the event of a power outage it’s the amount of work and thousands of dollars that were saved.

Miller Street project close to being finished

New Haven, Mo – Friday afternoon we spoke with Public Works Director, Julius Gatzemeyer about progress on phase one of the Miller Street project.

Gatzemeyer said, “Work on the gas and water lines have been completed as well as the sewer and storm drains.”

Police department replaces Impala with Tahoe - Adds a little shamrock spirit

The New Haven Police Department recently purchased a 2012 Chevy Tahoe that will replace their 2008 Chevy Impala.  The Tahoe is ranked number one in safety among GM vehicles used by police departments.

Demolition of historic Olive Street Bridge began this afternoon

Say good-bye to the Olive Street Bridge, KJ Unnerstall began tearing down the bridge this afternoon.  The bridge is estimated at being over 80 years old.

City workers finishing up work on Hickory street this morning

Yesterday we reported a small water main leak that had been discovered the day before by city workers.  Yesterday crews dug up the street where the leak was located and were able to repair the water leak. 

Water main leak on Hickory Street repaired - Street closed

Hickory Street is closed today due to a water main leak that was discovered yesterday.  Crews fixed the leak early this morning, however they had to remove a portion of the asphalt in order to properly repair the leak.

Locust Street between Maupin Street and Olive Street CLOSED today for street maintenance

Locust Street between Maupin and Olive Street will be closed today.

The Street Department is removing areas of bad pavement today and then will be repaving those areas.  Today’s project is part of the city’s regular maintenance and upkeep of city streets in New Haven.

Olive Street bridge construction CORRECTION - Demolition set to begin Aug 15 or 16

Public works department replaces Thurman Street Bridge

This morning the city’s public works department finished up replacing the Thurman Street Bridge which connects to Morgan Street.  Julius Gatzemeyer said, “We removed the old bridge and replaced the drainage pipe that runs under the bridge.  We then rebuilt the bridge and today are adding a new curb and gutter.”

Olive street bridge construction could begin this week

City officials are saying the construction on the Olive Street Bridge could begin as early as this week. The project includes replacement of the Olive Street Bridge and realignment of the roadway southwest of the bridge. Sidewalk and a pedestrian walkway on the bridge are included. The total contract amount is $215,991.70.
