Fire Fest 2011 -- You do not want to miss out

The riverfront in downtown New Haven is where the action will be this coming Saturday.

The Riverfront Arts District will host the forth-annual Fire Fest, and organizers are predicting record crowds. The event opens at 10:00am on Saturday morning, but activities officially begin with a thundering cannon salvo at 11:30, immediately followed by a parade.

The Annual Holiday Bazaar, sponsored by the New Haven Preservation Society, was held today from 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

This event was at the Old New Haven School, 810 Maupin Avenue, New Haven, Mo.  and featured many artisans.

Earlier today, Kurt and Mark Koch with Thrivent Finical along with friends and family held a benefit BBQ for Mike Baynes who was recently diagnosed with melanoma and is currently receiving chemo/interferon treatments.

I was just at the Boondocker where family and friends of the late Barb Borgmann are hosting their Annual Chili Supper along with a silent auction.  Let me tell you, some of the best chili I have had in a long time.

The 5th annual Girls With Their Tops Down parade and fund raiser unofficially took-in about $4,000 yesterday, according to one of the group's officers.

The rain did not hinder the excitement as three area businesses were inducted into the Gerald Chamber of Commerce tonight with a ceremonial ribbon cutting at each one.

It was a brisk morning that started with the excitement of a tractor parade at an early 7:30 a.m. Saturday morning at Bolte Ford.  The 20+ tractors arrived at St. John's Lutheran Church in Beaufort around 8:15.
