-- A statewide teachers group is suing the state over a portion of a new state law that seeks to increase student safety.

First day of school at East Central College

Today’s weather was enjoyed by all on the campus of East Central College as students returned for their first day back to school.  Incoming freshmen, sophomores, and untraditional students alike were buzzing about the new school year and the success they hope to find in their studies on campus.

- A spokesman for the Missouri State Teachers’ Association says the association thinks teachers will still be able to interact with students via social media, but he urges teachers to consult with administrators before they do.

East Central College bookstore has extended hours - Classes begin on Wednesday

The textbooks are on the shelves of the East Central College Bookstore, and a wide variety of backpacks, supplies, and Falcon attire are also available.  Students paying with check, cash or credit card, or who are charging books and/or supplies to their financial aid, are encouraged to visit the Bookstore before the start of the semester next Wednesday, August 17.

Paving at high school was finished today - Additional improvements completed during summer months

Next Wednesday, when parents begin taking their kids to school and students start entering the hallways for the first time since last May, they will notice a few improvements the School District has done during the summer months.

East Central wrapping up building renovation project

Last Thursday, workers put up the logo on the stair tower of the Administration Building on the Union campus, one of the final steps of the renovation project.

Beautiful weather and a great day for golf - School Board Tournament a success

The 22nd Annual New Haven School Board Scholarship Golf Tournament was held this afternoon at the Franklin County Country Club.  There were 68 golfers who turned out to enjoy a wonderful afternoon of golf and show their support for the New Haven School District.

The 2011 New Haven School Board Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament is being held today at Franklin County Country Club.

The proceeds from the event will go towards the School Board's Scholarship Fund, which is used to award scholarships to graduating seniors.

Last year’s receipents were Taylor Coop, Julie Scheer, Eric Engelbrecht, and Austin Peirick who each received a $750 scholarship.
