Missouri soldier killed in Afghanistan

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Flags across Missouri have been ordered to half-staff in honor of a Benton County soldier who was killed in Afghanistan last month.

First Sergeant Billy Joe Siercks, 32, of Lincoln, died on Oct. 1 from wounds he sustained days earlier when insurgents attacked his unit in Logar, Afghanistan.

On Tuesday, Gov. Jay Nixon order all U.S. and Missouri flags at state buildings to be flown at half-staff on Thursday in honor of Siercks.

We also must keep their families in our prayers as they sacrifice their way of living in order to support their loved ones.
