St. Clair man commits sucide

St. Clair, Mo. - Wednesday morning Franklin County Deputies received a report of an unresponsive male at a residence in the 1000 block of Sandpiper Drive, two miles southwest of St. Clair.

New Haven, Mo. – Monday night at 10:59 p.m. New Haven/Berger Fire initially was dispatched to Hennings Automotive for a fire alarm sounding.  Minutes later fire crews were re-dispatched for a first alarm commercial structure fire after New Haven Police advised flames could be seen and evacuation was in progress.  Washington Fire Department’s ladder truck was also dispatched along with one pumper to assist.

Union resident rear-ended, receives moderate injuries

Union, Mo. - Coy Smith, 85, of Union sustained moderate injuries in a two-vehicle accident this afternoon in Union, while stopped in traffic on Highway 50, .6 miles west of Independence Ave.

 

BREAKING NEWS: Union High School students evacuated after possible threat was discovered

Union, Mo. – Monday morning at approximately 10:30 a.m., students at Union High School were evacuated after school officials discovered graffiti and vandalism that indicated a possible threat towards the students and faculty.

Union School District Superintendent Steve Bryant told Quick News, “The graffiti and vandalism is what tipped us off.  We have a good protocol in place that we follow when these types of things happen.  We always try to err on the side of safety, at the same we look at how credible the possible threat might be.”

Union, Mo. – Monday morning’s fire inside of McDonalds located at the intersection of Highway 50 and Highway 47 in Union could have easily been much worse if not for Union Firefighters' quick response.

Sullivan man seriously injured in crash north of Beaufort

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is reporting that Travis S. Dunakey, 42, of Sullivan, Mo. was seriously injured in a one-vehicle crash this morning around 5:00 a.m., approximately 5 miles north of Beaufort.

UPDATE:  The Missouri State Highway Patrol has released the names of the driver and occupant and a cause for this morning's crash.  Amanda C. Reynolds, 27, of New Haven was driving "too fast for the wet road conditions" according to the MSHP.  The occupant in the vehicle was two-year-old Amelia Reynolds, also of New Haven.  The driver was wearing her seat belt.

Beaufort, Mo – This past Saturday, the Beaufort/Leslie Fire Department spent most of their night working a house fire, which is what most of our readers jumped to read about.  However, volunteer firefighters spend 80 to 90 percent of their time doing things other than responding to 911 calls.

Quick News spoke with Beaufort/Leslie Fire Chief Terry Feth about what his department does when not fighting fires or working a car accident.

Missouri Task Force 1 completed their mission Saturday in Long Beach, Long Island, NY. They are en route to Fort Dix, NJ for the night and will be flown by Chinook Helicopter to New York City to continue with search and rescue missions along with humanitarian efforts.

All members are doing well and glad to be working.

Berger, Mo. – New Haven/Berger Fire responded Thursday afternoon at 2:20 p.m. for a first alarm house fire.  When crews arrived on scene there was smoke rolling out of a window in the front of the house, which was also the location of the kitchen.

Rain was no help to the daunting task of removing a trash truck

New Haven, Mo. – The trash truck accident Tuesday afternoon could have been much worse, fortunately no one was hurt.

New Haven, Mo. – Late Tuesday afternoon a trash truck’s brakes went out and no way for the driver to stop.  He barreled through the intersection of Melrose and Maupin Street, somehow managing to keep from crashing into a house, as he was able to maneuver between two neighboring homes.

22-year-old crashes and overturns car

Leslie, Mo. – Monday night at 8:55 p.m. Beaufort/Leslie Fire and Gerald EMS responded to a car crash on Ebenezer Road, one mile south of Highway YY.

When emergency crews arrived, they found one vehicle upside down, off the right side of the roadway in the ditch.

Car crash leaves one dead and two kids with serious injuries

Washington, Mo. - Sunday afternoon at 3:12 p.m. Washington EMS and Washington Fire Department responded for a car crash on Highway YY, west of Stone Lane, approximately 2.5 miles east of Highway A in Krakow.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse was traveling eastbound  on Highway YY when the driver traveled off the right side of the roadway before crashing into several trees.

Six people killed in car crashes and one drowning during Labor Day Holiday

Last year, 13 people were killed over the Labor Day weekend. During this year's holiday weekend the Patrol investigated 201 traffic crashes, which included 144 injuries and four of the six fatalities.

Franklin County Sheriff's Department conducting check points this weekend

Deputies with the Franklin County Sheriff's Department will be conducting sobriety checkpoints over the weekend of August 24 - 26,

Deputies who are trained to actively seek out impaired drivers will man the checkpoints.

Burn victim flown to Mercy Med Center

New Haven, Mo. – Monday afternoon at 12:17 p.m. New Haven EMS responded to Mar Chem Coated Fabrics off Orchard Street for a burn victim.

New Haven Fire was also dispatched to set up a landing zone for a helicopter to land behind the Assumption church.

New Haven, Mo. – Firday morning in a joint effort with the New Haven Police Department’s insurance provider, Missouri Intergovernmental Risk Management Association, (MIRMA) officers were put through a firearms training simulator.  The simulator utilizes cutting edge technology to give their officers real life interactive situational scenarios.

Tragic shooting accident causes death of 63-year-old female

New Haven, Mo. - Earlier this afternoon around 3:00 p.m. New Haven Fire and EMS responded to the 800 block of Gerling Lane off of Highway KK for a gunshot victim.  Franklin County dispatchers advised responding crews that the victim had gone into cardiac arrest.
