Cardinals and Molina close to contract extension

St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) – The St. Louis Cardinals and catcher Yadier Molina are reportedly close to an agreement on a new contract.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, a multi-year deal that could average more than $10 million per season could be finalized by the end of the week.

John Buck O’Neil inducted into Hall of Famous Missourians

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- The Missouri House of Representatives Monday formally inducted Kansas City baseball legend John “Buck” O’Neil into the Hall of Famous Missourians.

O’Neil, well known as a player and coach of the Kansas City Monarchs of the Negro Baseball Leagues of the 1930s, 40s and 50s also became the first African American to coach in the major league.

Tim Hebbeler reaches bowling perfection - Watch it happen

Last night, Tim Hebbeler achieved perfection.  Hebbeler bowls in a league at Thunder Alley in Owensville, Mo. every week.  Hebbeler began bowling on a regular basis about two years ago.

In last night’s bowling league, Hebbleler bowled a perfect score of 300; 12 strikes in a row.  He was the first person to bowl a perfect game since Thunder Alley opened a year ago.

Dave Scheer named to Missouri High School Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame

During the past 25 years, Coach Dave Scheer has been the head baseball coach for the Union Wildcats.  Scheer has compiled a career record of 260-201 and is one of 20 coaches to have compiled more than 250 career wins.

La Russa to manage 2012 NL All-Start Team

(Missouri Sports Magazine) – Tony La Russa, the longtime manager of the St. Louis Cardinals who retired following his Club’s 2011 World Series Championship, will serve as the manager of the National League All-Star Team for the 2012 Midsummer Classic at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Commissioner Allan H. (Bud) Selig announced today.

Pinkel pleads guilty to DWI misdemeanor

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- University of Missouri football coach Gary Pinkel pleaded guilty Friday to charges of driving while intoxicated.

Since this is a first offense, the charge is a Class B misdemeanor. Pinkel will likely receive a 30-day suspended sentence and two years unsupervised probation. He is due back in court for formal sentencing Dec. 13.
