13-run explosion in the fourth inning carried New Haven to a 15-3 win over Calvary Lutheran

Madison Doyle rips one of her two hits on the evening.

New Haven, Mo. – Monday night Kierstin Monzyk racked up four RBIs on four of four hitting.  Madison Doyle finished with three RBIs going two of three from the plate.

Stephanie Scheer recorded her third win of the year by holding Calvary Lutheran to three runs on three hits while striking out five.  BrookeKluba recorded her best performance of the year.  Kluba was two of three from the plate, batted in one run, and scored twice.

New Haven led early on, scoring two runs in the first inning.  Calvary Lutheran added one run in the second after Scheer gave up a leadoff walk, which resulted in Lutheran’s one run.  Lutheran added two more runs in the third inning taking the lead, 3-2

Lutheran went down in order before New Haven exploded in the bottom of the fourth, scoring 13 runs off eight hits.

Lutheran went scoreless in the fifth, giving New Haven their third win on the year and improving to 3-2.

After the game Coach Tim Scheer said, “Defiantly a big win for us.  Before the fourth inning we really had not hit the ball very hard.  Hopefully this game will give the girls a little confidence going into the rest of the week.”

New Haven will wrap up their four game home stand on Thur. against a good Cuba team.  First they will play New Bloomfield on Tue. followed by Belle on Wed. who beat New Haven 12-0 in Saturday's third place game.

Blake Kluba was 2-3 with one double, one RBI, and scored twice.
