Aholt named 2012 Miss Franklin County

The 58th Annual Franklin County Fair in Union, MO began this evening with the 56th Annual Fair Queen Contest at 6:00 p.m.

Cassandra Jo Aholt of Union, a member of the Jeffriesburg 4-H Club was crowned Miss Franklin County Fair.  She is sponsored by Aholt’s Seamless Guttering.

Ariana Vieth of Marthasville, a member of the Washington FFA Chapter, was crowned 1st Alternate.  She is sponsored by Contractors Flooring in Wentzville, Vieth Flooring, Frick’s Market, KMC Properties, Party Time Rental, and Bujinkan Dojo.

Kayla Vondera of Union, a member of the Union FFA Chapter and the Go Hog Wild 4-H Club was crowned 2nd Alternate.  She is sponsored by Jeff & Dawn Brunkhorst, George & Cheryl Vondera, and Becky, Patty & Joy at Don Fleer Motors.

Dayeana Shell of Union, a member of the Union FFA Chapter, was crowned Miss Congeniality, as chosen by her fellow fair queen contestants.  She was sponsored by The White Rabbit and Rosebud Grand Antique Mall.

Several awards were also presented during the contest.  Katelyn Borgmann of Leslie, a member of the Union FFA Chapter, received the “Elizabeth Harashe Community Service Award” for collecting the most items for local food pantries.  Borgmann collected 528 items which she donated to the Leslie Tri-Pantry.

Kelsey Baxter of Union, a member of the Union FFA Chapter, received the award for selling the most season passes for the fair.  Baxter sold over $1,000 worth of season passes.

Kayla Vondera of Union, a member of the Union FFA Chapter and the Go Hog Wild 4-H Club received the Exemplary Essay Award.  Vondera’s essay was chosen by the judges as the top pick out of the contestants.  Vondera read her essay on stage during the contest.

The remainder of the fair queen contestants and their sponsors are as follows:

Kelsey Baxter of Washington, a member of the Union FFA Chapter, was sponsored by Fink’s Discount Foods.

Katelyn Borgmann of Leslie, a member of the Union FFA Chapter, was sponsored by Jasper Development Carpentry & Construction Services, Region Welding, and Bank of Franklin County.

Alexis Gray of Washington, a member of the Washington FFA Chapter, was sponsored by First State Community Bank, Chris Auffenberg Ford Lincoln,  Modern Auto—Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick, GMC, Dr. Daniel Smith, Rapid Response, and Pane Management Window Cleaning.

Kimberly Holland of Pacific, a member of the Washington FFA Chapter and the Ace Bronco Bunch 4-H Club, was sponsored by Scott & Renee Albert, Shire Gate Farms, Citizens Bank, Grandma & Grandpa Waller, and O’Reilly Auto Parts, Pacific.
