New Haven, Mo - Saturday’s car show at the New Haven Youth Fair was the largest ever with over 90 entries, however there was one participant missing.  A man with an indescribable passion for cars, someone everyone loved and knew, tragically passed away last year from a sudden heart attack.

Gary Slocum spent decades judging cars at the New Haven Youth Fair and devoted his time to making sure that every year, fairgoers were treated to the best show possible.  He is one reason the car show has grown to the fair’s largest midday attraction.

Family and friends gather to present the 1st Annual Gary Slocum Car Club Award.

Among the vast amount of cars that turned out from individuals, there was also 16 clubs from all over the State of Missouri, adding to the record-breaking day.

This year, family and friends of Mr. Slocum, including his daughter Danielle (Slocum) Bruckerhoff, (pictured above on right) presented the 1st Annual Gary Slocum Car Club Award.  The award was presented to the River City Cruisers for having the most club participation.

Danielle said, “I love the feeling of everyone still remembering my dad.  I don’t want anyone to forget him and it is nice to have the support from everyone.  It is something I will look forward to every year.”
