Marines LCP Michael Brown and PFC Mathew Brown are the sons of Ed and Cheri Brown of New Haven, Mo.  LCP Michael Brown is a 2011 graduate of New Haven High School and PFC Mathew Brown is a 2012 graduate of Washington High School.

Michael and Mathew recently completed basic training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) in San Diego, Ca.  The 12 weeks of basic training is designed to challenge new Marine recruits both mentally and physically.

Each day Michael, Mathew, and fellow recruits began bright and early by running several miles, performing calisthenics, as well as intense physical conditioning.

They also spent numerous hours in the classroom as well as field assignments, which included learning first aid, uniform regulations, combat water survival, marksmanship, hand to hand combat and assorted weapons training.  They performed close order drills and operated as a small infantry unit during field training.

Throughout their basic training they were taught the Marine Corp’s core values, honor, courage, commitment, and the meanings behind each core value in guiding personal and professional conduct.

Michael and Mathew along with their fellow brothers and sisters ended the training phase with the crucible 54-hour-team effort and problem solving evolution.

After graduating from MCRD Michael was stationed in Okinawa, Japan and Mathew will be stationed at Camp Pendleton for an additional eight weeks of combat training.  After the eight weeks of additional training Mathew will be assigned his permanent station.

On Sept. 16, 2001 LCP Michael Cody Brown was assigned to the 1st Bt. Bravo Co. Platoon 1033.

On May 4, 2012 PFC Matthew Ryan Brown was assigned to the 3rd Bt. Lima Co. Honor Platoon 3249.

We would like to thank Michael and Matthew, along with all the men and women for their service to the United States of America.  May God Bless you and protect you while defending our country’s freedom.
