Car crash leaves one dead and two kids with serious injuries

Washington, Mo. - Sunday afternoon at 3:12 p.m. Washington EMS and Washington Fire Department responded for a car crash on Highway YY, west of Stone Lane, approximately 2.5 miles east of Highway A in Krakow.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse was traveling eastbound  on Highway YY when the driver traveled off the right side of the roadway before crashing into several trees.

The driver, 36-year-old Angel Sullentrup was pronounced dead at the scene.

In the car with Sullentrup were a 5-year-old female, Abby Woods and 12-year-old male, Dakota Mendenhall, both sustaining serious injuries and were air lifted to St. Louis Children's Hospital.

A fourth passenger, 10-year-old female, Sierra Mendenhall was the only one in the vehicle who was wearing a seatbelt and was transported by Washington EMS to Mercy Hospital with moderate injuries.

All four involved in the crash are from St. Clair, Mo.

Sullentrup, Woods, and Dakota Mendenhall were not wearing any type of safety device.
