New Haven’s Cross Country team competed in the Warrenton Invitational XC on Friday.  Clear blue skies and mid to low 60’s are perfect weather conditions were perfect weather condtions for Friday's race.

The Shamrocks placed fifth overall and beating much larger schools, such as Hannibal, Borgia, and U City.  Coach John Tucker said, “I was happy to see us finish in fifth place, but I did not feel we competed as well as I had hoped.”

Seth “Steady Eddy” Schenck continued being the Rocks lead runner finishing 5th with a time of 17:41.  This is only one second faster than last week at Hancock, a much more difficult course.

The “Running Brothers”, as they have all season long finished only 28 seconds apart, Dominick Pataky in 23rd (18:40) and Zach Grater in 28th (19:08).  Will Smith had a disappointing finish last week and not pleased with his time.  Smith ran a much better time Friday shaving off 31 seconds to finish 41st in 19:36.  Zach Schwab came in 60th followed by Raul Moreno in 71st.

Tucker said, “Smith’s improvement was a huge help to our teams overall score, but the success of our team depends on every runner competing at a high level.  Our fifth runner is who we need to improve his time as along as our top four continue doing well and improving their times, it will come down to what our number 5 runner does.  If we can get Schawb running a time of 20:30 or better we will be able to compete at districts if our top four continue running well.”

The team will be in Hermann on Tuesday.  Great opportunity for anyone to come out and support this talented Cross Country Team.  The race will be held at Loutre Shore Country Club.
