-- “Young” is how Coach John Tucker describes the boy’s cross-country team.  He said, "Our top three runners, juniors Seth Schenck and Zach Grater and sophomore Dominick Pataky, should be competitive throughout the year and districts, but overall we have a young team with little race experience.” (Click here to download schedule)

Coach Tucker said, “It is nice to have girls on the team this year.  Junior Fey Chavez and freshmen Clare Roth both have the talent and ability to be successful.  I am hoping by the time we reach districts they will be in good shape, giving themselves a chance of advancing past district.  That’s a long ways away, but the potential is there."

As a freshman Pataky finished 27th at the State Cross Country meet last year and will be one runner to keep an eye on, particularly since he has race experience.

Schenck has been New Haven’s number one runner since his freshman year finishing 14th at state, receiving All-State honors.  Last year Schenck, “simply had a bad race” in Jefferson City, finishing a disappointing 29th place.  This year looks to be a different story.

Coach Tucker said, “Seth [Schenck] has really looked great this year.  He did a lot of weight lifting in the off-season; he is a lot stronger and is running really well.  I am excited to see what he can do.”

Rain or shine! Saturday New Haven will host their Annual “Short Course” Invitational in the City Park, which has become a popular race among schools in Franklin, Gasconade, Crawford counties, and the Columbia and St. Louis areas.  There are expected to be 14 teams.

This is a great opportunity for fans to turnout and cheer on the team.  If it's raining there are plenty of pavilions to see the race and stay dry.
