Warrenton, Mo.
– New Haven’s Cross Country team had another great performance on Friday at the Warrenton Intentional.

The Shamrocks lead runner, Seth Schenck posted a sub 18-minute time for the second straight race to finish third in 17:56.

Coach John Tucker said, “Seth [Schenck], Zach Grater came in 10th (18:28) and Dominick Pataky 16th (18:52), raced smart and did a good job of running a smart race on a course that has posed challenges for us in the past.”

Fey Chavez ran into trouble when her shoe came untied, affected her overall time of 23:45, finishing 36th.  If not for her shoe coming untied she most likely would have finished closer to 30th place. Clara Roth finished 42nd with a time of 24:20.

Tucker said, “This course required us to run a smart race because it starts off with slight down hill, which can cause a lot of runners to start off too fast thus burning themselves out.”

Another positive note: Freshman Drew Armfield ran a career best time of 23:02.

New Haven will next travel to Hermann on Tues. Oct. 2 with the meet beginning at 4 p.m.
