Duke's Chelsea Gray Voted ACC Player of the Week

DURHAM, N.C. -  Duke University sophomore guard Chelsea Gray was named the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Player of the Week on Monday, after posting the fourth triple-double in school history on Sunday with 14 points, 13 assists and 11 rebounds.  The triple-double by Gray is just the 14th in ACC history.

Gray, who is out of Stockton, Calif., totaled a school-record with her 13 assists on the afternoon as the seventh-ranked Blue Devils downed Pittsburgh, 92-43.  She hit 5-of-7 field goals and 2-of-2 from downtown in 33 minutes of action, while pulling down a career-high 11 rebounds.  Gray also added six steals in the contest.

On Thursday against 13th-ranked Purdue, Gray posted 11 points, seven rebounds, four assists, two blocks and three steals in 36 minutes.  The Blue Devils collected a 54-43 victory on the night.

For the week, Gray averaged 12.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 8.5 assists, 4.5 steals and 1.5 blocks.  She hit 52.9 percent of her field goals and 66.7 percent from downtown.

The ACC also awarded Brittany Rountree as the ACC Rookie of the Week.  The honor for Gray is the first of her short career.

Duke moved to No. 6 in the latest Associated Press poll on Monday and will next travel to 10th-ranked Kentucky on Thursday, Dec. 8 at 6:00 p.m.  The contest will be aired live on CW/FSN. Click here for more about Duke Womens basketball.
