East Central College Board Re-employs Full-time Faculty Members‏

The re-employment of 72 full-time faculty members was one of the items approved by East Central College trustees at their April 9 meeting.  Other personnel matters included accepting the letter of resignation from education instructor Stephanie Bray who has taught at ECC since 2004.

In other action, board members approved an extension of the June 2005 memorandum of understanding with Central Methodist University for continuing usage of facilities for the 2013 fiscal year.  CMU will continue to pay a flat rental fee of $17,000 per year based on 45 credit hours per eight-week session for general classroom usage.  The university will continue to pay its own phone bills as well as printing and postage expenses.  CMU has offered junior and senior level courses at ECC since 1993, with graduate level classes added several years later.

The firm of Davis, Lynn & Moots, P.C. will continue to conduct the external audit of ECC and the ECC Foundation for fiscal years 2012 through 2014.

The Springfield, Missouri, based company has conducted the college audit for the past six years.  The contract approved by trustees will not exceed $41,750 for fiscal year 2012, $42,550 for fiscal year 2013 and $43,400 for fiscal year 2014.

The college also received a proposal from CliftonLarsonAllen, L.L.P., of St. Louis which was over two percent higher than Davis, Lynn & Moots.  Dr. Jon Bauer, vice president of finance and administration, noted the lower pricing combined with the excellent work the firm has provided thus far tipped the scales in favor of Davis, Lynn & Moots.
