The holiday season usually means more time in the kitchen so East Central College is offering two cooking related continuing education classes in early December.

On Tuesday, December 6, Christmas Cookie Decorating will take place at ECC’s site at Four Rivers Career Center in Washington from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

This class is for young and old alike. Instructor Linda Schwoeppe will guide participants in creating cookies that are too beautiful to eat – if there is such a thing! Participants are asked to bring their own cookies. Cost is $20 per person.

People who prefer savory foods compared to sweets can learn to make a variety of soups December 6 and 13. Chef Ted Hirschi, director of ECC’s Culinary Arts program, will lead the two nights of instruction. Both sessions will meet from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in ECC’s culinary kitchen located in the Training Center on the campus in Union.

At the Tuesday night sessions Chef Ted will be putting spoons into the hands of the students. One session will focus on tomato-based soups and the other night the students will cook cream based soups. Cost to attend both sessions is $40.
