New Haven, Mo.
– Wednesday morning New Haven residents may have noticed students, teachers, and parents walking through town to the school.  New Haven Elementary students joined more than 4,000 schools across the United States walking and riding bicycles to school to celebrate International Walk to School Day.  This is the fourth year in a row New Haven has participated in this event.

This one-day event is part of an international effort to encourage more families to get out of their cars and on to their feet to enjoy the many benefits of safely walking and bicycling to school.

Walk to School Day is an energizing event, reminding parents and children alike of the simple joy of walking to school; however it is usually also a kick-off event. Walk to School Day becomes a catalyst for on going efforts to increase walking and bicycling daily.

Research has shown that students who walk or ride their bike to school are more attentive in the classroom.
