Fire crews battle house fire in Berger - Additional fire departments respond to assist

Damage sustained in the kitchen area.

Berger, Mo. – New Haven/Berger Fire responded Thursday afternoon at 2:20 p.m. for a first alarm house fire.  When crews arrived on scene there was smoke rolling out of a window in the front of the house, which was also the location of the kitchen.

Pictured below is what fie crews saw when they arrived on scene.

According to fire officials it appears the fire began in the kitchen area based on the amount of damage sustained.  The rest of the house manly had smoke damage.

Hermann and Washington Fire Departments also responded to provide additional personal.  Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire after crews made entry into the residence.

There was no one home at the time of the fire.  The homeowner told Quick News that he was at work when he received a phone call from a neighbor telling him of the situation.

Franklin County investigator, Jim Schuhmacher has also responded to the scene.  Anytime there is a fire and no one is home at the time it is standard protocol that Schumacher responds.

The kitchen ended up being a complete loss and smoke damage throughout.

Hermann EMS also responded to the scene and there were no reports of any injuries.
