Friday night's grand opening of Elizabeth’s Antiques, Crafts, & Home Décor in Downtown New Haven, Mo. began with a ribbon cutting ceremony to kick-off the two-day celebration.

I feel it is important to note that I am a guy, and society says crafts and antiques are not our thing.  Would I have thought of stopping by Elizabeth’s before this past weekend?  You know the answer to that question.  However, anytime you find something special it is only right to tell your friends, so guys listen up.

Elizabeth’s is in a category all of its own.  If you are into antiques, crafts, home décor, or do not want to drive all the way to Washington to buy your wife a gift, then Elizabeth’s is the place to go.  I am not quite finished yet boys…

It is ok, guys, if you like candles; there is nothing wrong with that, they have a wide selection of those too.  Every once in a while you need to impress your wife by cooking her a nice dinner and believe it or not, Elizabeth’s has all the necessities.

Evidence boys…evidence

They have a brand called Wind & Willow, which must be a popular item among the ladies.  Consider them your best friend.

I discovered that Wind & Willow is a brand of assorted easy-to-use mixes for soups, dips, desserts, and other appetizers or side dishes.

I don’t think you can go wrong with the plan I have come up with to impress any lady friend a guy might have.

Obviously, the first thing to do is go downtown to Elizabeth’s.  I suggest you purchase something there that your love would like. Just ask Sherry or Evelyn for help and you’ll be just fine.

Pick out a soup mix, which only requires adding water, then grab a dessert mix or dip mix to share while watching a movie.  Personally, I suggest the S’mores dip with animal crackers.

All of this is what makes Elizabeth’s the place “where your story begins.”  They have a wide variety of items women shop for and it's the one stop shop that will score major brownie points for the guys.

If you haven’t taken time to visit Elizabeth’s, along with the other shops along Front Street in Downtown New Haven, then make a weekend of it.  I promise, you will enjoy.

That’s just my opinion.
