Hermann, Mo - The Hermann Area Chamber of Commerce held a special meeting late this afternoon to decide whether or not to go forward with their Annual Fourth of July Fireworks display.

The Hermann Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors released the follow statement this afternoon at 4:50 p.m.

“The Hermann Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has decided to proceed with its fireworks display and other activities on July 4th.

While we understand the concerns that have been raised about the dry conditions and realize many cities have postponed or cancelled their displays, we believe the location of our display is safe and the fireworks are being shot by a professional fireworks company, The Wald Company that began in 1924.

Our location is across the river at the Hermann Sand and Gravel on property owned by the Engemann family.  The landowners have been consulted and are in agreement with the decision.

We invite everyone to enjoy the traditional Fourth of July celebration.  We also encourage everyone to take precautions to deal with the heat.  The food stand will open at 11 AM at the Riverfront Park, 12:30 pet parade, 3:00 turtle race, 4:00 parade and vender booths open, 5 kiddy tractor pull, 7:30 concert at the amphitheatre with the Hermann City Band and the fireworks display with start at 9:15.”

Thank you for your support,
Hermann Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors
