Intoxicated male attempts to take 2-year-old daughter -- Mother airlifted after being run over by vehicle

On Sat., Sept 24, around midnight, Franklin County Deputies and the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to a residence near the Gray Summit Post Office.  When they arrived there were several subjects visiting the residence.

Witnesses reported a male subject at the residence that had become intoxicated. According to reports, the subject wanted to leave with his 2-year-old daughter, however the mother refused to let him take her or have access to the 2-year-old

It is alleged at one point the subject located the child and attempted to leave in a vehicle with the child.  The child’s mother and others at the residence attempted to stop the subject as he tried to leave.

The subject apparently struck the mother of the child and again as the subject backed up, allegedly running over the female.

Other individuals at the residence were able to gain control of the child and subdue the subject.  The subject received injuries from the altercation and was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur.

The female received serious injury and was airlifted by Air Evac to Mercy as well. The incident is being investigated in a joint effort by the Sheriff’s Office and State Highway Patrol.

The victim has been identified as Tasha Hardcastle, a white female, age 30 from Thornton Road in Gray Summit.  The suspect is identified as a white male, age 35, also from Thornton Road.  His name is being withheld pending the issuance of charges.
