Washington, Mo. - On Saturday afternoon, fire tore through Hardee’s causing officials to deem it a complete loss.

We spoke with Washington Fire Chief Bill Halmich this afternoon about the possible cause of Saturday’s blaze.  He said that no official report has been released and that the fire is still under investigation.

However, Halmaich said, “The fire may have been caused by a cigarette in the rear of the building.  We are still investigating several possible ignition sources. Again the fire is still under investigation and we have not determined the exact ignition source.”
