The National Weather Service is predicting a Missouri River crest of 26 feet in Hermann on July 2.

New Haven City Administrator, Steve Roth released a statment this morning saying "We would expect the crest to be slightly higher here given the rising Loutre River. At this point the forecast is for the river to fall rather quickly, and with no rain in the immediate forecast we are not in action mode just yet. However more rain would change this."

I asked Roth, if the river were to reach a level of 28 feet, what exactly would occur.  He explained, “At that level the boat ramp and some of the parking area at the ramp would be under water.”

Roth assured they would be watching the NWS predictions and will keep citizens advised of any changes.

NOTE: River forecasts for this location take into account past precipitation and the precipitation amounts expected approximately 24 hours into the future from the forecast issuance time.

Please be aware that heavy rains could cause river levels to rise even higher than predicted.  The national weather service will monitor this developing situation and issue follow statements as conditions or forecasts change.

Safety tips:  Never drive cars, trucks or sport utility vehicles through flooded areas.  The water may be too deep to allow for safe passage.
