Emillie Diebal (9) spikes it down the line recording one of her eight kills on the night.

New Haven, Mo. – Hermann’s Emilie Diebal’s game high eight kills and fast paced offense propelled the Lady Bearcats past New Haven in two sets, 25-11, 25-20 on Tuesday.

The Lady Rocks committed a game high 32 errors as they continue to struggle on serve receive and costly serving errors.

Hermann jumped out to a 20-6 lead in the first set thanks in part to New Haven’s 12 errors. New Haven began to battle back but Hermann had an answer every time, taking the first set 25-11.

The second set was a different story.  Kayla Meyer jump-started the rocks with a kill to start the set.  After exchanging serves Hermann clung to a two-point lead, 11-9, before New Haven feel into a slump committing four straight errors.

Down by eight the Lady Rocks showed signs of life after a Rachel Steinhoff kill. New Haven slowly began marching their way back, gaining momentum and forcing a Beaercat timeout with the score 23-18.

New Haven had everything going their way, putting the pressure on Hermann as they were only two points away from closing out the match.

Coach Linda Lampkin told her team during the timeout, “Just try to keep it simple…when you have a huge lead and the other team starts coming back all of a sudden you don’t have the lead and I told the girls, the pressure is on them, we still lead by five.  We need two points to win the match.”

Natalie Witte (3) finished with seven kills on Tuesday.

New Haven had built a little momentum, but as they have done many times this year, they end up “shooting themselves in the foot.”

New Haven had the serve after the timeout only to committing their third service error in the set.  On the ensuing play Taylor Covington recorded a kill but the rocks ended the match by serving the ball out of bounds.

With Tuesday’s lose New Haven falls to 1-1 in the conference and 12-5 overall.  Hermann picked up their first conference win (1-0) and improved to 6-6 on the year.

Both teams will have conference matches tonight (Thursday): New Haven hosts Sullivan and Hermann will travel to St. Clair.

The Lady Shamrocks may have lost the match but New Haven's student body has been a dominating force against other schools.  It has been a long time since High School Students have been supporting their teams.  They stand for the entire set and do everything they can to be the X factor and the teams 7th man.  Love to see the Shamrock Spirit alive once again.  We hope you keep it up.
