Belle, Mo – The Lady Shamrocks were all business last night, cleaning house with both teams winning in straight sets.

Elise McDonald smashed a team high eight kills and serving four aces helping the Lady Rocks defeat the Belle Tigers 15-25, 18-25, in a non-conference match and their first victory of the season. (1-1)

Rachel Steinhoff had a team high six digs, committing only one error and Blake Williamann added nine assists.

Coach Sharen Speckhals spoke with us this morning about what she had told her girls after Monday night’s game.  Speckhals said, “I told them it’s not where you start, it’s where you finish.  I explained to the team that we learn from this loss and come out tomorrow night (last night) and do a better job of covering the corners in the back row and making better sets.”

The Lady Rocks played a much cleaner game than the night before, receiving 66% of services compared to 58% the night before.  Speckhals said, “One thing we did a much better job at, was our back row covering the corners.  Belle was hitting the corners very similar as Timberland had but tonight our girls communicated better and Steinhoff really had a good game covering corners and passing the ball very well"

Even though the Lady Rocks came away with a victory and Willimann's  nine assists, the teams overall setting needs improvement with more consistency.  Speckhals said, "This is one thing we are going to work on tonight at practice."

The Lady Rocks home opener will be tomorrow night with the JV game beginning at 5 p.m. against O’Fallon Christian with a record of 0-2, losing to Pacific and Barat.
