New Haven, Mo – Thursday night’s game was filled with tons of emotion and excitement as the Lady Rocks battled it out with the Owensville Dutchgirls. Owensville came into the game with a record of 11-8 on the season and tied with New Haven in conference play. (3-1)

New Haven’s Elise McDonald and Kelsey Pecaut combined for 27 kills, McDonald accounting for game high 15 kills and leading the Rocks to a three set victory. (21-25, 25-21, 25-16)

Thursday night was not one of New Haven’s best games, committing an uncharacteristic 15 serving errors and 12 of them in the first two sets alone. Owensville took advantage of the unforced errors by New Haven to win the first set by winning 21-25.

The Rocks battled back in the second set clinging to a 22-21 lead before Pecaut went on a killing spree, smashing three straight kills and forcing a third and decisive set. (25-21).

Pecaut’s killing spree carried over into the third, smashing her fourth kill in a row and the first point in the set.  After losing the first set the rocks closed out the third set knocking off Owensville 25-16.  Owensville fell to 11-9 and 3-2 in the conference.  New Haven improved to 16-9 and 4-1.

The Lady Rocks will finish up their regular season at home against Linn on Tues., Union on Wed, and Pacific on Fri. before starting district play the following week at Chamois.
