Dutzow, Mo – This past weekend the Spartans little league baseball team won 2nd Place in the Dutzow Spring Shootout.  The Spartans are made up of 11 future baseball stars from Hermann and New Haven.

This past weekend they competed in their second tournament of the yeaer in the 11 and under division.  The previous weekend they kicked off their season at the New Melle Invitational where they lost in the semifinals to the Union Wolves who went on to win the tournament.

Saturday’s tournament began with pool play to determine each team’s seed for Sunday’s bracket play.  The Spartans had defeated the New Melle Rockets during pool play but found themselves down 6-1 in the semifinals.  Determined to advance and play in the championship game, they rallied in dramatic fashion, up ending the Rockets and a chance to win the Dutzow Spring Shootout.

The Spartans came up short against the home team, Dutzow Bulldogs, settling for a 2nd place finish.

Congratulations Spartans in making the championship game and brining home some hardware.
