New Haven, Mo - On the same day Dave Luecke resigned from New Haven High School and eight days after resigning from his head coaching position, the Missouri Sports Writers and Sports Casters Association (MSSA) announced that Luecke was unanimously voted Girls Basketball Head Coach of The Year for the East Central District (Class 1, 2, & 3).

Luecke resigned from his head coaching position earlier this month and on Sat. officially resigned from his teaching position at New Haven High School. Luecke’s resignation leaves several voids the school district will be faced with filling.

Aside from finding an industrial arts teacher and high school girl’s basketball coach, the school district will need a middle school girl’s coach as well.  Luecke also ran a girls summer camp and organized the girl’s fifth and sixth grade basketball tournament each year, not to mention the different summer camps he would take his varsity team to.

There has been some speculation Luecke had not been offered to remain head coach, however during the March board meeting the members voted to renew all teacher contracts as well as any extracurricular activity the teachers were in charge of.  This includes all coaching positions and club sponsors.

Luecke submitted his letter of resignation at this month's meeting.  His resignation came after a few parents had complained throughout the season.

Luecke told us he had received one phone call at the beginning of the season asking if he would have a meeting with all of the parents.  He said that he would be more than happy to meet with any parent one-on-one.

Luecke went on to say that no parent approached or called him after the initial phone call.  Luecke said that he had no clue there were complaints and still no definitive answer has been given about what the complaints were.
