Hermann, Mo – New Haven traveled to Hermann on Thursday seeking redemption after the Bearcats knocked off the Rocks 8-0 in a non-conference game, ten days prior

Austin Madden picked up his fourth win of the year (4-1) leading New Haven to a 9-6 win over Hermann.  Coach Jim Scheer said, “Austin showed a lot of guts on the mound, fighting adversity…we had five errors forcing Madden into difficult situations and is a big reason we won.”

Scheer said, “It was not the cleanest of games defensively for either team, but we were able to get a few timely hits that helped us to pull off the win."

Hermann made a late charge by scoring three runs in the fifth and then again in the sixth.  The Shamrocks defense had struggled most of the night but made up for it in the final inning.  After Craig Winkelmanns lead off hit, the Rocks erased Winkelmann by flipping a 6-4-3 double play.  Madden finished off the Bearcats, striking out Josh Schannuth, giving New Haven their third conference win and sixth win overall.

John Carey rounds first off one of his three hits

New Haven improved to 6-9 overall and 3-3 in the conference while Hermann falls to 4-8 on the year.

John Carey led New Haven at the plate going 3-5 and knocking in two runs. Madden finished with seven strikeouts while giving up just three walks.
