Mercy to Co-sponsor Community Blood Drives in January

Washington, Mo. –Mercy Hospital Washington works with area schools, churches, businesses and other organizations to collect life-saving blood products from generous donors. Donations provide life support for Mercy patients. Upcoming events include:

  • *Coleman Elementary Winter Blood Drive from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, January 12, in the Gymnasium at the school, 4536 Coleman Road in Villa Ridge.
  • *St. Bridget’s Parish and School Winter Blood Drive from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, January 17, in the Gymnasium, 223 West Union in Pacific.
  • *The Mercy Hospital Washington Co-Worker and Community Blood Drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, January 19, in Classrooms A & B on the main level of the Mercy Medical Building, 851 E. Fifth St. in Washington. Walk-ins are welcome, appointments are preferred. For an appointment, visit donateblood.mercy.net.

Donors must be at least 17 years old, or 16 with permission from a parent or legal guardian. They must be at least 110 pounds and in good health. All donors should allow eight weeks between donations. All presenting donors will receive a free T-shirt.

Mercy Blood Donor Services is the only mobile, hospital-based, blood collection center in the state of Missouri. Being mobile means bringing services to peoples’ places of business, worship or school. The service allows the hospital to collect life-saving blood supplies from the community, for the community at a portion of the cost.
