Mercy to Co-sponsor Community Blood Drives in November

Washington, Mo. –Mercy Hospital Washington works with area schools, churches, businesses and other organizations to collect life-saving blood products from generous donors. Donations provide life support for Mercy patients. Upcoming events include:

The East Central College Fall Blood Drive sponsored by the ECC Student Nurses from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wed., Nov. 9, in the Gymnasium in the Multipurpose Building, 1964 Prairie Dell Road in Union. Please register for an appointment at Donateblood.mercy.net. To register, select East Central College from drop down menu and follow the prompts.

The Mercy Co-Worker and Community Blood Drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thur., Nov. 17, in Classrooms A & B on the main level of the Mercy Medical Building, 851 E. Fifth St. in Washington. Walk-ins are welcome, appointments are preferred. For an appointment, visit donateblood.mercy.net.

The St. Clair Community Blood Drive sponsored by the St. Clair Elks and St. Clair Elementary from 2 p.m.to 6:30 p.m. Mon., Nov. 21, at the St. Clair Elks Lodge, 35 E. North St. in St. Clair. Childcare is provided while donating.

Donors must be at least 17 years old, or 16 with permission from a parent or legal guardian. They must be at least 110 pounds and in good health. All donors should allow eight weeks between donations. All presenting donors will receive a free T-shirt.

Mercy Blood Donor Services is the only mobile, hospital-based, blood collection center in the state of Missouri. Being mobile means bringing services to peoples’ places of business, worship or school. The service allows the hospital to collect life-saving blood supplies from the community, for the community at a portion of the cost.
