Michael Leath named New Haven High School student of the month

New Haven, Mo - New Haven High School’s student of the month for April/May is senior Michael Leath.  Leath is the son of Ernie and Jenny Leath.  Leath was recognized for his hard work and effort both in the classroom and extra-curricular activites. 

Leath has achieved at a higher level each year he has attended school at New Haven, ending with his outstanding work in advanced classes this past year.

Leath was a member of FCA, FBLA, competing in district contest, a four-year member of the basketball team and three-year member of the track team.

Leath was this year’s Four Rivers Conference champion, district champion, sectionals champion, qualifying for the Missouri Track and Field state finals in the 400m, 200m, and 100m.

During the state qualifying heat in the 200m dash, Leath suffered an injury and was unable to finish the race.  The following day and still injured, finished 8th in both the 100m and 400m, receiving state medals in both races.

Michael’s future plans include attending East Central College; unsure of what he intends to major in.
