Linn, Mo. - The big story at Saturday's cross-country meet was the middle school girl’s team taking third place.  Abby Grater led the lady rocks finishing in third place followed by Lucy Roth in 22nd, Emily Lewis 28th, Kallista Stubblefield 54th, and Alison Long in 59th.
Congratulations girls!

In the varsity boys race Seth Schenck continued to lead New Haven, finishing in 10th place and medaling (top 20 medal) with a time of 18:10.  Zach Grater came in 22nd with a time of 18:46, finishing one place ahead of last years meet.  New Haven’s number three runner Dominick Pataky finished 49th with a time of 19:31.

Coach John Tucker said, “I was looking for our top three runners to run under 20 minutes, which we were able to do.  Overall, we did about what I had expected with an added bonus.”

The bonus was sophomore Shawn Mays who finished 20th for the last JV Boys medal in his first ever cross-country race, with a time of 22:10.

On the girls side Fey Chavez finished 22nd in 22:52 winning her second medal of the year.

Coach Tucker said, “We set a realistic goal of 23 to 24 minutes and she came in just below that and felt like she could run faster.  Now we will shoot for a time between 21 and 22 minutes.”

Freshman Clare Roth ran a 25:15 running close to her goal of 24 to 25 minutes.

New Haven’s next meet will be Thursday at Steelville beginning at 4 p.m.

Graden Lovelace ran in his first varsity level 5K and finished 89th in 21:47.
