Firefighter Tracy Grote demonstrated how he puts on his fire gear while Assistant Chief Brian Strubberg explained how their gear protects them when going inside a burning building.

New Haven, Mo. – Friday morning New Haven/Berger Fire Department (NHBFD) wrapped up Fire Prevention week at Franklin County R-II.  Firefighters conducted a fire drill and inspected the school to insure their fire alarm system was working properly.

Wednesday they announced winners of the poster contest at New Haven Elementary and today they revealed winners at R-II as well as the posters that will compete at the state level.  Poster winners were chosen based on this year’s theme “Have 2 Ways Out”.

The process of choosing which three posters from each of the three age divisions is done by combing both schools and then selecting which posters will compete at the state level.

New Haven’s Fire Auxiliary members said, “It was a task trying to decide the winners because there were so many great posters to choose from.”

Beaufort/Leslie Fire Department also took part in Fire Prevention week by visiting Beaufort Elementary School.  Click here to read Kaylin Bade’s article about what they did Friday morning.
