The New Haven Police Department participated in the “You Drink & Drive. You Lose.” crackdown conducted Aug. 19 through Sept. 5. During the enforcement effort, officers issued a total of 18 traffic tickets including: 1 Driving while Intoxicated, 11 speeding tickets, and 6 other traffic violations.  One warrant arrest was also made as a result of the campaign.  In addition, the New Haven Police Department made 81 traffic stops, issuing 67 warnings along with the 18 citations.

We spoke briefly with Chief John Sheible this morning about the recent campaign.  Sheible said, “When we remove a drunk driver from the roads, we're all safer.  Law Enforcement will continue to encourage drivers to make a simple and smart choice to drive sober.”

Driving while intoxicated remains one of the top causes of fatal car crashes in Missouri.  In 2010, 234 people were killed and 957 seriously injured in crashes involving an impaired driver.  "You Drink & Drive. You Lose"
