New Haven's offense too much for Tuscumbia in 13-0 rout

Austin Madden makes an incredible diving catch from the mound after snagging a line drive on the previous play, that was smoked back at him.

St Elizabeth, Mo - New Haven jumped out to an early lead on Tuscumbia and captured a 13-0 victory Friday night in the Class 1 District tournament at St. Elizabeth.

The game was quickly decided as New Haven exerted its will early with nine runs in the first three innings.

A sacrifice fly by Garret Schoenfeld and a two-run single by Kyle Ruediger in the first inning helped New Haven put three runs on the board early.

New Haven's Ross Seitter was perfect at the plate, going 3-3. He singled in the first, second, and third innings.

Ross Seitter finished two of three from the plate with one RBI.

New Haven's Austin Madden threw a five-inning shutout, holding Tuscumbia to four hits on the night.

New Haven hammered Tuscumbia's pitching as eight hitters had a field day, combining for 14 hits, 11 RBIs and 12 runs scored.

New Haven piled on six more runs in the bottom of the third. The inning looked promising, as Schoenfeld tripled, scoring John Carey to kick things off. That was followed up by Blake Eggers's double, scoring Schoenfeld.

New Haven built upon its lead with four runs in the fourth. A wild pitch scored Andrew Schwentker for the inning's first run, followed up by Jake Terchluse's RBI double, scoring Ruediger.

Madden made quick work from the mound in the fifth inning, forcing an infield pop fly, then striking Tuscumbia’s second batter of the inning, and a ground ball to John Duke at first base, gave Madden his sixth win on the season.

With tonight’s win, New Haven advances to the semifinal game on Monday against Calvary Lutheran at 5 p.m.  Click here for updated bracket.
